Faith Nyong is a Community Health Nurse at Amita. Her work at Amita Health focuses on the prevention and abatement of chronic disease in medically-underserved African-American patient populations. Here she describes the power and the impact of the Gospel Run partnership. Together, we are advancing health equity and disrupting the epidemic of chronic disease!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<h5>A Platform for Whole-Community Change<\/h5>\n<p>Pastor Julian Spencer of Main Baptist Church leads a Gospel Run team that includes 15+ churches and over 300 congregants and community members across the City of Aurora.\u00a0 And he\u2019s not stopping anytime soon!<\/p>\n<p>Gospel Run is a vehicle for Pastor Spencer to engage other Pastors in health promotion and to organize the broader community around health.\u00a0 It was also the catalyst for him to train for his first 5K, and he now proudly identifies as a runner!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Go Pastor Spencer!!\u00a0 Together we are changing the narrative.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Ady2sojV88A\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div>\n<h6>Pastor Julian Spencer, Th.D. \u2013 Main Baptist Church<\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZZcCH9z443w\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div>\n<h6>Frank Johnson \u2013 Fox Valley Park District  (Aurora, IL) <\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h5>Partners In Health \u00a0<\/h5>\n<p>Frank Johnson is the Director of the Vaughn Recreation Center, a facility of the Park District in Aurora.<\/p>\n<p>He has a front row seat to the transformational impact of our local Gospel Run partners, Amita Health &amp; Main Baptist Church, as they leverage the Park District for their yearly Gospel Run Team-In-Training season.<\/p>\n<p>Together we win!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<h1>The Journey To Gospel Run<\/h1>\n<div>\n<h5>Facing your Fears<\/h5>\n<p>Belinda Williams shares her journey with chronic back syndrome and the daily pain she experiences. She has wanted to do the Gospel Run for years but was afraid.<\/p>\n<p>This year, she has declared to take steps toward improving her health, and she\u2019s on a mission to complete the Gospel Run. She\u2019s starting her training with one lap.<\/p>\n<p>Sending you love, Belinda! But so far, she\u2019s done the Gospel Run 5 years running, and she can\u2019t imagine stopping!\u00a0 Taking that first step, she began with a steadfast commitment to consistent daily walking, and she lost 30 pounds!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whereas she previously shunned exercise, Cynthia has gone on to help start a walking club and has even served as a guest speaker to health groups focused on chronic disease prevention.<\/p>\n<p>Keep letting your light shine Cynthia! We see you!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<h5>It\u2019s A Family Affair<\/h5>\n<p>Morris and Christina Phillips, an awesome dad &amp; daughter duo, talk about training for their first Gospel Run together.<\/p>\n<p>Christina has walked the Gospel Run with her mom for several years, but this year, dad steps in as her team-mate, and he plans to run. Christina is stepping up her game to keep up!<\/p>\n<p>We are cheering on the Phillips family!
